Bad Bentheim Junior School kids want to draw people’s attention to the children’s-art-campaign organized by the organisation “Developing the Future“.

The organisation “Developing the Future“ wants to send painted dreams of children to the UN

Bad Bentheim Junior School has actively supported the organisation “Developing the Future“ in order to promote the campaign “Colour my dream – Carry out my dream with colour, with life“. On December 10th, the Human Rights Day, the organisation starts a children’s rights-art-campaign reminding politicians of their promise to reach the goals in the fight against poverty. “In 2000 the governments of the world have – within the framework of the millennium-campaign – promised to reduce poverty distinctly“, Birgit Kolhof of the oganisation “Developing the Future“ explains. The promises should be put into practice by the year 2015. “There is only one year left and not enough has happened. We are not satisfied with the results“, Bernd Kolhof is citicizing. Already in 2010 the organisation had started a campaign, at that time “Keep your Promises“ (The local newspaper informed about the campaign.). With the campaign “Colour my Dream“ this initiative will be continued. “The children can’t wait any more and want the adults to keep their promises“, Birgit Kolhof explains the new campaign. Bad Bentheim Junior School immediately agreed to take part in the campaign. Supported by the staff of the school 310 pupils painted their dreams and wishes and stuck their pictures on cardboard in the colours of a rainbow. As an appeal to act, the pictures will be sent to the UN in New York. “We will ask our partner school in Nepal to take part. That makes 1500 pictures painted by children. We hope for a lot of letters sent to the UN and we would be happy if adults were willing to show solidarity“, Bernd Kolhof says. Apart from pictures, poems, photos, videos or pieces of art basing on other ideas are possible. Those who would like to take part, can get in touch with “Developing the Future“ („Zukunft entwickeln“, telephone 05922-4596, e-mail: zukunft-entwickeln@ewetel.net ). There is more information in the internet (www.zukunft-entwickeln.de).
